Arenal National Park, Costa Rica

The 1633m high, active Arenal volcano is located about 60 miles north of San Jose in a nature reserve on Lake Arenal.
The majestic and impressive volcano is the biggest attraction of the park.
The reserve consists of original rain and cloud forest, rivers, waterfalls and a rich animal and plant life in different habitats.

The Arenal is among the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica.
The last big eruption was an earthquake in 1968 as the giant of a roughly 400 years aroused deep sleep. Even today, the volcano is still constantly in motion and small eruptions are observed every few minutes.

The volcano heats on different sources, including the hot springs of Tabacón, a popular tourist destination.

On the evening or night consists of the western side of the volcano from an excellent view to the glowing lava flowing down the mountain.

The Arenal Volcano, Fortuna and Tabacón are among the most popular destinations in Costa Rica.
